Morning: Cassis and the Calanques
Your guide will take you to discover the wines of Cassis and its “Calanques.”
You will savor two wine tastings in vineyards “appellation Cassis.”
At the founding of Marseilles, over 2,600 years ago, the Phocaea’s implanted the first grapes in the Cassis bay. They introduced the “Ugni Blanc,” which is still present today. Over time, the Romans perpetuated the culture of the vine in Cassis and shipped the wine by sea, as evidenced by wine amphoras found in the Cassis bay. The first writings about the Cassis Vineyard date all the way back to the Middle Ages, and in 1381, a notarial text recounts the presence of vineyard land in a place called “The Arena,” by the sea.
The winery moved from the Mediterranean Sea to then expand into the slopes of the surrounding mountains. In the sixteenth century, Cassis sealed its destiny: the vineyard specializing in the development of white wines. A revolution in Provence! (Of course, red wines dominate as well).
Lunch: Time for lunch will be provided in the ancient fishing port of Cassis.
Your guide recommends Le Bistro de La Villa Madie, which has a beautiful sea view.
Afternoon: Explore the Calanques de Cassis on a private boat (Swimming is a possibility. Therefore, we recommend you bring a bathing suit).
In Cassis, Calanques formed over 120 million years ago. To the west of Cassis, the Massif Calanques is made of white limestone over 400 m thick (approx. 1312 ft). Marine valleys have widened, creating real miniature fjords, sometimes containing high natural coves.
Dinner at leisure.
Please do not hesitate to ask your expert to reserve a table at a fabulous restaurant in the area.

Day 3: Discover the vineyards of Aix-en-Provence
You will savor three wine tastings over the course of the day, two in the morning and one in the afternoon.
Morning: Discover gorgeous landscapes while tasting the rosé of Provence – an experience of a lifetime! The superb town of Aix-en-Provence is surrounded by its famous Montagne Sainte Victoire and fantastic vineyards where the world’s best rosé is made (as well as amazing reds and whites !).
Montagne Sainte Victoire extends over 1 mile between the departments of Bouches-du-Rhône and Var, and was the favorite model of painter Paul Cézanne.
The first French vines were implanted by the Greek founders of Marseille over 26 centuries ago. At that time, rosé was initially produced as the maceration of the juices, since the skin of the grapes was unknown and seldom used. Eventually, a trend and public interest corresponded with the production of the unconventional rosé, and a new relationship within the region of Provence was established. The rosés represent 82% of the production in Aix-en-Provence, where vines thrive in the the rich soil and are invigorated by the mistral, the cold and dry wind from the north.
Lunch: Time for lunch will be provided in a beautiful restaurant close to Montagne Sainte Victoire.
Your guide recommends Le Relais de Saint Ser, which has a beautiful valley view.
Afternoon: After lunch, we will have our final tasting of the day at a vineyard close by.
