If you’re passionate about wine then you might want to familiarise yourself with the top wine events coming up in 2020, Planet Provence has put together a list of 5…

1.     Wine Paris 2020 (10th -12th Feb)

This event is a combination of Vinovision Paris and the Vinisud event. Both events are now under the same branding making this one of the biggest events in the capital city of France.

2.     Les Printemps du Châteauneuf-du-Pape (3rd -5th April)

This event, located in the Provence region is an annual rendezvous for wine lovers from all over the world.  This year they will celebrate their 10th year and will celebrate the local association of young wine growers all whilst creating a bridge between the richness of the past and the promises of the future. A plus of this event is the opportunities to learn by taking part in workshops so don’t forget to reserve your place.

3.     Bordeaux Wine Festival (18th – 21st June)

This festival is a celebration of the wines from the Bordeaux region and is managed by the Bordeaux wine council. The advantage of this event is the up-close and personal intimacy with the wine merchants. On the quays of Bordeaux, a wine trail is set up displaying possible guided tours of vineyards, wine tastings, concerts and even a fireworks display.  If you prefer wines from the burgundy region then the Bordeaux Wine Festival is not dissimilar to the event held in Bourgogne “Grands Jours de Bourgogne” (9th – 13th March)

  1. Festival of the new (The 3rd Thursday in November)

Perhaps the most famous wine festival in France, the Nouveau Beaujolais Festival and at a national level is the most anticipated in France. The event begins on the third Thursday in November, when the first bottles of the new Beaujolais are opened to the cheer of “Le Beaujolais Nouveau est arrivé!”.

 

5.     Wine by the seaside (Mid October)

Oh I do like to be beside the seaside… and even more so under the sun with a glass of wine… If this sounds like you then you should head to “Banyuls sur Mer” for “Fête des Vendanges” which literally means grape harvest. The event is held during mid-October under the autumn colours on the Mediterranean in the Languedoc-Roussillon region. This occasion is celebrated with wine tasting and barbeques on the beach. The absolute highlight of the event is when the newly-harvested grapes arrive by boat.
