Wine tour in Aix en Provence
Our Aix en Provence Wine Tour is made to explore the gorgeous landscape of Aix en Provence in the South of France. The beautiful Mountain Sainte Victoire was made famous by the painter Cézanne.
The Landscape of Aix en Provence
It catches your eyes with its dramatic landscapes, made out of sharp white limestone cliffs. Those spring from a green valley full of orchards, vineyards and olive groves. It harbours friendly wineries, home to the vineyards that produce the world’s best Rosé (as well as superb Reds and Whites). Enjoy this beautiful region while tasting some Rosé of Provence.
“You’ve never tasted a real Rosé until you have tried a Rosé de Provence!”
The Wines of AOP Côteaux d’Aix en Provence
The AOP Côteaux d’Aix en Provence is the most Western appellation of Provence wines. It gathers 79 producers united around a group of top quality wines. Main red grape varieties are Grenache, Cabernet Sauvignon, Carignan, Cinsault, Syrah and Mourvèdre.
They are fragant when young, yet can accquire a dense aromatic complexity after a 5 years of maturing. Using the same grape varieties and a cold maceration process, winemakers produce supple, light and fruity rosés. These will match with most of the Summer dishes that our superb region has to offer. Bourboulenc, Vermentino, Clairette, Grenache Blanc, Ugni Blanc, Sauvignon and Sémillon contribute to refined and balanced whites. Note the special status of Sainte Victoire: thanks to its typical landscape, Côtes de Provence Sainte Victoire is an IGP (among five) belonging to AOP Côtes de Provence.
