7 Days in Provence

Spend 7 days in Provence immersed in the unique culture of Southern France, drinking exquisite Red, White and Rosé wines and touring the countryside with an English-speaking local.

Day 1: Explore the City of Art

Morning : Explore Aix en Provence’s fresh open markets full of colors and scents. World famous for its Medieval architecture and fountains, Aix en Provence is an art mecca. Known as the birthplace of post-impressionist painter Paul Cézanne, the local council preserved sites including his childhood home and former studio.

Afternoon: Enjoy lunch at a restaurant at the foot of Montagne Sainte Victoire, often featured in the painter Cézanne’s work. Following lunch, enjoy a private wine tasting at a friendly local vineyard.

After a long day of exploring, you arrive at your 4* hotel. This beautiful and luxurious accommodation will be yours for the duration of the tour.

Day 2: Wine Tasting in Alpilles

Morning: Near the village of Les Baux de Provence, visit the monument Carrières de Lumières.Those former quarries, dug out by men since the Roman Times offer the visitor  amazing thematic art and music exhibitions. After this artistic interlude, experience a tasting at a nearby winery. Promoted to AOC status since 1995, “Les Baux de Provence” is known for its high quality Red and Rosé wines made predominantly from Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre.  Since 85% of the appellation is produced using either organic or biodynamic methods, the local winemakers work to make out of this AOC France’s first officially organic appellation.

If you fancy, you may enjoy a lunch at a typical bistro in the historic village of St. Rémy de Provence.

Afternoon: Following lunch, walk down the streets of St. Rémy, where you’ll find art galleries and local products. Known for its quality of life and beautiful landscapes, St Rémy hosted Nostradamus and Van Gogh among other renowned names.

Day 3: Cassis & Les Calanques

Morning: You will participate in a guided wine tasting in the vineyards of “appellation Cassis,” where Phocaens planted the first grapes 2600 years ago. In the sixteenth century, the vineyards of Cassis became a revolution in Provence, specializing in the development of White wines.

Afternoon: Following lunch in the ancient fishing port of Cassis, you will explore Les Calanques de Cassis via a private boat. You will have the opportunity to see in person the white limestone Calanques of Cassis that were formed over 120 million years ago.

Following the day, your guide will return you back to the Hotel for the night.

Dinner at your leisure – your guide will gladly reserve a table for you at one of the best restaurants in the area. 

Day 4: Day at leisure at the Hotel

The hotel, situated in the center of Aix en Provence, represents the typical provencal “Art de Vivre”. A beautiful garden, a pampering spa and rooms with a terrace create a relaxing environment. You may also enjoy lunch and/or dinner at the hotel’s exceptional restaurant.

Day 5: The Palais des Papes in Avignon & the wines of Châteauneuf du Pape

Morning: First, you will visit the Palais des Papes and the Pont St. Benezet (audio guide provided). “The Palais des Papes” stands as the powerful symbol of the church’s influence throughout the western Christian world in the XIV Century. Edified in 1335, “The Palais des Papes” was completed in less than twenty years under the leadership of Pope Benedict XII and his successor Clement VI. The beautiful decoration in the frescoes inside the palace were painted by Italian artist Matteo Giovannetti.

Do not hesitate to ask your guide for a private tour in the “Palais des Papes.”

Afternoon: Lunch in Avignon at leisure. Your guide will gladly reserve a table for you at a Michelin-starred restaurant. Would you prefer a simpler or more affordable option? We have plenty of good alternatives for you!

Following lunch, two wine tastings in the vineyards of Châteauneuf du Pape, one of the most iconic wine regions in the world. Here are located some of the oldest wineries in France, with ancient castle ruins dating back to the 13th century. When it comes to world-class Red wines, Châteauneuf du Pape is unrivalled! Most visitors do not get the opportunity to see the landscapes and places that we have carefully selected for you.

Day 6: Wine Tastings in Bandol

Morning: Savor two wine tastings at wineries while taking in the beautiful coastline of Bandol. Bandol is one of the first regions in which the Phoenicians cultivated vines in a fertile site that will contribute to the grapes’ growth.

Lunch at your leisure (we have several places to recommend)

Afternoon: Following lunch, walk the streets of the beautiful medieval village of Le Castellet, which dates back to the 12th century. Conclude the day with one final wine tasting in Bandol.

Dinner at your leisure.

Day 7: Parisian Breakfast

Round off these 7 days in Provence with a true Parisian Breakfast at your hotel Following breakfast, your guide will transfer you to Marseille airport or the Aix-en-Provence train station.

You may add a cooking class of Provencal fine cuisine with a chef local to the region, if you desire.
