Luxury Vintage Car Wine Tour
This Vintage Car Wine Tour is customized for hedonistic retro car lovers. Explore the beautiful vineyards and villages surrounding Aix-en-Provence in a vintage 2CV Citroën on this truly unique wine tour. In fact this car (“deux chevaux”) has been very popular among french people since it first appeared in 1948. More than a car, this is a lifestyle symbolizing a “slow life” attitude. So take your time and enjoy a smooth ride!
Day 1: Wine tasting & drive through the countryside
Morning: Start your tour at a famous biodynamic wine estate. Its production is purely organic, and was recognized in 2009 by the French organic label “AB.” Taste these superb wines in a refined “arty” environment. While the winery’s design is signed by a world famous architect, the garden is full of contemporary artworks. Enjoy a tasty lunch in this property, matching your dishes with house wines.
Afternoon: First, visit Abbaye de Silvacane, a former Cistercian monastery, located in the town of La Roque-d’Anthéron, which dates back to the 12th century. It is one of the called “three sisters of Provence”. The other two being Senanque and Le Thoronet Abbeys.
Next, drive to Cadenet, located on the southern slopes of Luberon Massif , overlooking the valley of the Durance. Cadenet is the birthplace of famous André Estienne, the boy who played the drum for the for the fourth regiment of grenadiers during the battle of the bridge of Arcole.
After this adventurous day, relax with a pampering massage at the luxury Wellness Center of a “Relais & Châteaux”. Dine at the cosy bistro of a Michelin-starred restaurant. This place proposes a simple but inventive cuisine centered on the flagship products of the region. Taste the wines of the domain while enjoying those treats! Your nearby room provides you a deserved break in a sophisticated haven.
After a long day of exploring, you will arrive at the hotel Domaine de Fontenille where you will be treated to a massage at the Domaine de Fontenille spa.
Day 2: Wine Tasting, lunch at Maison de la Truffle & Gordes visit
Morning: discover the medieval village of Bonnieux, located in the Vaucluse department. Walk its typical narrow streets and enjoy from this hilltop village a superb view on the Monts de Vaucluse. Stop at a famous winery, featured in a movie, and taste its fragrant wines. Following the tasting, explore the village of Lacoste. Since this picturesque village is an open air museum, it reminds the crazy parties organized by the infamous Marquis de Sade. The world renowned couturier Pierre Cardin brought the castle back to life a few years ago.
Afternoon: Enjoy the truffles and wines of the Luberon region in Menerbes, at a gastronomic restaurant for an epicurean truffle lunch.
Take in the scenic view from the beautiful hilltop village of Gordes. This village inspired some of the best artists, including André Lhote & Marc Chagall.
If desired, you may drive to the Senanque Abbey, built to house a community of impoverished monks, under the patronage of the bishop of Cavaillon.
Finish your vintage tour in the village of Roussillon, one of the most beautiful villages in France. Follow the ocher trail to the “Chaussée des giants” in the fairy chimneys.
