Tuber Melanosporum is the Black Truffle
Mysterious and coveted from the beginning of time, the truffle provokes more than simple curiosity. Its origins, its scent, its taste and its color make it a “Grande Dame” that is revered the world over. Discover the earthy side of luxury that will stun and delight your senses!
The truffle Patch, The Collector and The Dog
We will meet with the truffle-producing farmer and his truffle hound. He will provide you with the proper tools and show off the special skills of his faithful friend and we will follow him into the hills to look for the “Black Diamond”. On the way he will let you in some of his secrets, we will see his dog in action and if we are lucky, he might be able to dig out a few truffles (but there is no guarantee since it is a rarity).
The Wine and Truffle Lunch
Late morning we will leave our truffle-producing farmer and move on to a magnificent 17th century “hôtel particulier” and its French style gardens for an indulgent wine & truffle lunch. During the meal, we will serve you with 3 different wines for you to taste and discuss.
After this feast, you will have an hour to stroll around the magnificent village built on top of the hill which has been awarded as one of the “most beautiful villages in France.”
Your Private Wine and Truffle
Experience the South of France on this unique private tour led by an English-speaking local. Your guide will share his expertise of French wine, answer all of your wine-related questions, and share with you some of the history of the local wines and tasting techniques.
Our friendly guide will pick you up from your hotel or B&B (up to 10 km around Aix en Provence) and return you at the end of the tour. If you wish to be picked up and dropped off from a location outside this 10km radius, extra fees may apply.
The Full Day Tour Includes
The knowledge and guidance of a French wine expert, a visit to the truffle producing farmer, guided tasting of 3 wines during lunch.
Lunch, personal expenses, and any services not mentioned above are not included
Tuber Melanosporum is the Black Truffle
Provence in the South of France is considered as the most beautiful place in France, and it stretches all the way from Arles and Avignon to Monaco, anchored by the Mediterranean sea. The region’s natural beauty, its warm climate, picturesque Medieval villages, traditional open markets, colors, aromas, olive oil, sun flowers, lavender fields and of course its wines make Provence an irresistible destination to both the French and to visitors.
What gives Provence its distinctive character and unique wines is, among other things, its particularly diverse landscape swept by the Mistral wind and its warm dry and sunny weather. Provence is more and more popular and recognized for its wines, especially about its rosé wines (some of the World’s best rosés) but it also produces some remarkable strong and full-bodied red wines which can age several years in barrels, as well as tender delicate and airy whites.
If you want to discover the wines and the beauty of Provence countryside in a relaxing, welcoming atmosphere with an English-speaking guide, then our private Provence wine tours are for you!
We offer several destinations to visit and taste wine in Provence such as Aix en Provence, Luberon, Baux de Provence, Bandol & Cassis and the world famous Châteauneuf du Pape.
And if you want to discover Provence off the beaten tracks, you can also contact us in order to organize your own tailor-made trip whether it is for one day, for a week or more.
We are strategically located in Aix en Provence in order to travel around easily to all destinations.
If you like the wines you have tasted during your wine tour and if you want to buy some, we offer the service to ship your wine home.
We are open all year round and look forward to welcoming you at Planet Provence.
